Of course it is the inevitable, looming oil crisis that awaits the US (because
of her thirst for oil) that has given this Administration the justification to
invade Iraq on the "pack of lies" (1. Honorable George Galloway) that came
out of this White House. That, although not justified in many people's minds,
is pretty much understood by the rank and file. |

While Massey Energy stockholders met at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, parents, grandparents, and other residents of Coal River Valley, West Virginia rallied to oppose Massey’s operations adjacent to Marsh Fork Elementary School. Two grandmothers and a third resident of the valley attempted to deliver a list of demands. The residents were met by the plant’s head of security who refused to allow them to present their demands. When the residents again attempted to present their demands, they were arrested in a moving and dramatic act of civil conscience. |

Bush has no legitimate mandate. The will of the people was
not expressed in the 2004 election—not only because of
voter intimidation and fraud, which there definitely was some of,
but beyond all that, and most essentially, because the people
were not given a real choice. They were not given a real avenue
in which they could express their opposition to what is
represented by Bush. The real story of what is happening and the
alternative to it was never presented in the election—certainly
it was not presented by Kerry and the Democrats.
