The first week of July has been designated as a WEEK OF ACTION AGAINST EXXON/MOBIL. Why not visit a gas station near you! . Exxon/Mobil, besides denying the validity of climate change and being MAJOR enemies of the Earth, are one of the biggest proponents of "free trade", and ran advertisements in most major US newspapers saying that US and the rest of the Americas should sign onto the FTAA. |

House Speaker Dennis Hastert is there on the left, with a "0%" rating. Urbana is in the 15th district, formerly represented by Tom Ewing, now by Tim Johnson. Johnson, along with several other Illinois Republicans, is a sponsor of the Fast Track bill, H.R. 2149. |

Contact your congressional representative and both senators to let them know that you oppose the FTAA and "Fast Track" authority that will be sought to ram it through Congress. The FTAA is a TREATY and should require a two-thirds Senate vote to be ratified in any form. |

The night will feature a video, presentation and discussion focusing on the free-speech implication of the fight to bring low-power FM radio to the airwaves and the local group that applied for a license. |
