Donate to the Capital Campaign

Help the UCIMC build its foundations and buy a new home by giving money to our Capital Campaign. Our goal is to raise funding to support construction at the new IMC Media and Arts Center and we are well on our way. Since opening in 2000, the Urbana-Champaign IMC has launched numerous projects and grown into a thriving community and media production center. In its short existence the Urbana-Champaign IMC has:
  • Built an interactive, open-publishing, news website viewed by thousands of people daily.
  • Produced a weekly radio news show that plays on WEFT 90.1 FM as well as being rebroadcast on several other stations.
  • Published an ad-free, community supported, monthly newspaper, The Public i, that has grown from a 4000 copy, 8-page paper to a 16-page resource with a print run of 5000.
  • Began broadcasting a bi-weekly cable show on Urbana Public TV (as well as hosts regular video screening of independently produced movies).
  • Programmed and set up a community wireless network that is helping to close the digital divide by making the Internet available to local residents for free.
  • Collected thousands of books, zines, videos, and other media, as part of our resource library.
  • Hosted an arts gallery that features the work of local artists and traveling exhibitions
  • Been a community center for meetings, small gatherings, events, etc. -- a place where local organizations, projects, and initiatives can meet.
  • Become the fiscal sponsor for the entire Global Indymedia Network as well as numerous individual IMCs and (Indy)media projects.

The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center is a federally recognized non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization (EIN: 37-1403593). All donations made to the UCIMC are deductible as allowed by law.

The UCIMC's Mission

The Independent Media Center is a grassroots organization committed to using media production and distribution as a tool for promoting social and economic justice. The IMC is not owned or funded by corporate sponsors and advertisers and we are in need of your support to sustain our efforts.
