Kucinich: New Report From Congressional Research Service Shows US Has Long-Term Plans To Stay In Iraq |
by Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) (No verified email address) |
Current rating: 0 14 Apr 2005
|
"This report clearly indicates that, despite recent press accounts, this Administration has no plans to leave Iraq any time soon, and raises questions about whether permanent bases are being built," stated Kucinich. "The US military presence in Iraq is counterproductive, and the construction of 'long-term' bases in the country will only prolong the occupation and cause more US casualties. FCC Warns WCIA Ch3 along with other Broadcasters About 'News' Videos |
by via AP (No verified email address) |
Current rating: 0 14 Apr 2005
|
WCIA, local TV channel 3, was implicated in broadcasting program material supplied by the federal government without proper attribution. Despite the rather clear-cut nature of the violations and WCIA's denial that there was anything improper about it, the FCC apparently feels only a warning is needed. It remains to be seen if this will stop the illicit distribution of government proppaganda, since the Bush Administration has thumbed it nose at such legal concerns and asserted that it will continue the practice. Stay tuned for more and here's a link to earlier reporting on this issue on UC IMC: http://www.ucimc.org/feature/display/27870/index.php |

No GMO Bud: Anheuser-Busch Says it Won't Buy Rice from States That Grow GM Crops |
by AP (No verified email address) |
Current rating: 0 13 Apr 2005
|
Anheuser-Busch is believed to be the first major company to threaten a boycott over the issue, according to comments filed last month with the Agriculture Department.
"Given the potential for contamination of commercial rice production in this state, we will not purchase any rice produced or processed in Missouri if Ventria introduces its pharma rice here," Jim Hoffmeister, a vice president at Anheuser-Busch, said Tuesday. |
