UC IMC gets keys to the building...more to follow... |
UC IMC now has secured the first floor at the PO building for the security of the mails. We have keys for access to the rest of the building.
Notices to IMC members about access, prospective tenants about walkthroughs of the space, and other info will follow as more info becomes available over the next 24 hours.
A cleaning crew to tidy up the new IMC will meet there at 3:30pm on Friday, May 27. Meet at the northside door on Elm St.
The big move is Saturday, May 28 starting at 10am. We welcome your participation. If possible, please bring a truck, trailer, cleaning supplies, empty boxes, and lots of spare hands. There is no formal plan for refreshments, but those would be nice and much appreciated if brought, and we will have to figure a plan for when and how to break for lunch on Saturday.
Like all IMC projects, this one is dependent on the participation of many willing volunteers. We hope to see you Friday and Saturday. Come see the new space, help arrange it, and spend an exciting time with other IMCistas. We expect that the move will take most of the day in order to leave the IMC in some sort of usable condiation after the move.
Since the old IMC will be essentially empty by Saturday afternoon, all IMC activities will shift to the new IMC as of Sunday, May 29. Please use the northside door that enters the ground floor (the basement for us Midwesterners who tend to speak crudely) from Elm St.
Info on key exchange for IMC keyholders is available on the main UC IMC list. You will need to trade your old key for the new one, so please make sure your access needs at the old Main St. IMC are taken care of before trading in your key.
Most people will probably no longer need their old keys after Saturday. I can make exceptions to allow you to retain your old IMC key where there is a legitimate need to be at the old building after the move is finished Saturday in order to prepare the old space to turn back to our current landlords.
Please be aware that possession of the Main St. space reverts to the landlords after June 5, so make arrangements for any business you need to finish there before then. |
