Here at ISU we have a student group, United Students Against Sweatshops, and have been protesting Disney’s college program since Spring ’00 trying to create a dialogue between ourselves and Disney about sweatshop abuse and what Disney is doing. This week Wednesday, Disney held their recruiting session and we had 30 people protesting this event. |

The media is leading us to believe that the fight is over with Illinois Power. Dont trust IP yet- we can't let our guards down. They have every intent to rewrite a proposal, and they have yet to collaborate with the citizens. |

Family and Community Activity Center Planned for North Champaign |

Over two dozen activists and community leaders met on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 to discuss the creation of a "Family and Community Activity Center" that would serve the residents of North Champaign. The pioneering Springfield, IL microradio broadcaster Mbanna Kantako was raided by the FCC and local authorities twice last year, after operating his unlicensed Human Rights Radio for more than ten years. I just received word from his frequent spokesperson Mike Townsend, a University of Illinois-Springfield professor, that Kantako is back on the air. |
