New research shows that economic growth worldwide has actually slowed during the era of globalisation. In a powerful new paper, The Emperor Has No Growth, a group of researchers in Washington challenges the conventional view of history. They have drawn up a globalisation scorecard. Between 1980 and 2000 there was "a very clear decline in progress".

"Free Trade" is good for farmers, right? American workers already know how bad NAFTA has been for them- hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost since it went into effect. Farmers have been a little more insulated by the equity positions they hold in their farms, but the harsh realities of "free trade" are a big part of the current crisis in agriculture. This article explains why. Be sure you let Tim Johnson know that Fast Track Authority to implement the Free Trade Area of the Americas is also a BAD idea. ML |

"Bad-jacketing" is a term used to describe the misrepresentation of a group as something it is not; presumably the false description is bad and discrediting in some way. Bad-jacketing is similar to "red-baiting," where progressives are sometimes labeled as "communists." |
