Weak Links in the Food Chain: Why Uncle Sam Won't Tell You What Not to Eat
Current rating: 0
19 Jan 2005
Why would the government tell you to "look for" foods that you really should avoid altogether?

Imagine dietary guidelines that said: Stop eating Big Macs, Doritos and Oreos. Those are recommendations most Americans could understand, but not ones we are likely to hear. Until people are told the entire truth, instead of meaningless messages such as "eat less," the nation's health will continue to suffer.

Not One Damn Dime Day! -- Jan 20, 2005
    Current rating: 0
    19 Jan 2005
Since our religious leaders will not speak out against the war in Iraq,
since our political leaders don't have the moral courage to oppose it,
Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th, 2005 is "Not One Damn Dime
    Day" in America.

New Intelligence Reports Raise Questions About U.S. Mission in Iraq
    Current rating: 0
    18 Jan 2005
The public report by the National Intelligence Council appears to contradict the Bush administration's contention that the invasion of Iraq struck a blow against terrorism. The report concludes that instead of diminishing terrorism, U.S.-occupied Iraq has replaced prewar Afghanistan as a breeding and training ground for terrorists who may disperse to conduct attacks elsewhere.

"The sad thing is we have created what the administration claimed we were intervening to prevent: an Iraq/al-Qaida linkage," one of the senior intelligence officials said.

STOP THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX FROM POLLUTING OUR FOOD & WATER
    Current rating: 0
    18 Jan 2005
    Modified: 10:13:31 PM
The News-Gazette published one of its typical "happy" news stories about the perchlorate issue on page B-1 of the Tuesday, Jan. 18 issue. It stated that perchlorate is not nearly as dangerous as first feared. What it did NOT state is that the military has been insisting that perchlorate is not a big problem. The NAS study was cited, but in a deceptive way that implied that the concerns raised are minor. There was no mention that the NAS study had, indeed, found that percholate is 10 times more toxic than the military has asserted.

Another questionable assertion in the article is that people in Illinois had little to fear from perchlorate contamination. The fact is that the most contaminated areas of the US are also prime algrcultural areas. Where do you think your lettuce comes from? It sure isn't Illinois in the dead of winter, but areas of California and Arizona that use heavily-contaminated water to grow food we consume in Illinois.

You can say what you like in the US media, as long as it helps a Republican president. But slip up once while questioning him, and you will be torn to shreds.

Social Security Deception Funded With Taxpayers' Dollars
    Current rating: 0
    18 Jan 2005
It all adds up to a disturbing pattern of deception and abuse of federal offices and funds to advance a partisan political agenda.

It's all smoke and mirrors, just like the weapons of mass destruction and fictional nuclear weapons program that made Iraq a "crisis" requiring an armed invasion.
