Needle Exchange Banned in Peoria- Public Health Battle Brews

Registered Nurse Beth Wehrman, 48, hardly seems like an ogre, but her harm reduction activities in one of Peoria's tougher neighborhoods have made her a monster in the eyes of some neighbors and local politicians. ON Tuesday, the Peoria city council voted unanimously to ban curbside syringe exchanges, such as Wehrman was doing, within 10
days. The council vote demands that any needle exchange program (NEP) now be conducted in a building in a non-residential area of the city, with the location being subject to prior approval by the chief of police.

University YMCA collecting items from Students before they go into dumpsters

I have been volunteering with the YMCA this week on their "DUMP and RUN" program, in which we have been placing large boxes around campus collecting items that ordinally quite possiblly get thrown away and into the landfills.
Also, YOU are encouraged to call 337-1500 to make arrangements and we will come by and collect items that then will be sold in the Annual Sale to be held Sept 5th - 7th

has also discovered that the sales tax from one of the
adult-entertainment businesses in the town hasn't been paid to the city in years. Another topless bar owner was ordered by the feds to sell the business, after being convicted of obstruction of justice. But after serving his prison sentence, he continues to operate the club.
