The News-Gazette published a story recording the Bush Administration's denials about this article, but not the article itself. The idea that we would encourage anyone to build more nuclear weapons under ANY circumstances seems positively insane, except for the fact that Bush seemingly is exactly that attracted to the allure of nuclear superiority. His father armed Saddam Hussein and then went to war with him. It would be a grave mistake to follow the same game plan with nuclear weapons. This is a presidency and administration willing to endanger the nation to acheive its political goals. |

Keep in mind that the figure for workers fired for organizing, mentioned as being 20,000 a year, is just the number that the government chooses to recognize. Far more often, companies are allowed to fire workers for "economic reasons" after issuing threats aginst workers' jobs during union organizing drives. The NLRB many times chooses to just look the other way and then these workers are not counted as being fired for union organizing, even by the federal government. I know: I was one of over 150 workers fired by Supervalu in 1999 under this exact scenario. ML |

Champaign hosted a Labor Day parade for the first time in
33 years. Union members from all over town showed up, crowds
were good, fun was had by all. The Living Wage Campaign made
an appearance, you can see some members here with their sign. |
