The number of people who said they viewed Wal-Mart very favorably or somewhat favorably fell 18 percentage points to 58 percent while the number who answered that their view was very or somewhat unfavorable increased by the same amount to 38 percent. |

Although income inequality has increased sharply in recent decades, it has always been greater here than in other industrial democracies. Can a case be made for it? Many have described inequality as the price we must pay to achieve high rates of economic growth.

Since reporting on the issues of using Indian mascots has been rather lopsided in much of the local media, it is useful to have some reporting that tries to address some relevant issues that haven't been examined locally, like the Nazi festishism of a well-heeled supporter of the mascot of the University of North Dakota. The school is fighting an appeal seeking to continue its use of its "Fighting Sioux" logo, just like the University of Illinois is doing with the "Chief". |
