US-drafted resolution, passed in the Security Council 14-0 (Syria abstaining), "affirms a vision" of a two-State solution -- echoing recent comments by da Prez and by Secretary Powell. In other words, what used to be implicit US policy is now explicit: US support of "a region where two States, Israel and Palestine, live side by side within secure and recognized borders." |

David Rovics played to a crowd of 30 at the Urbana, IL Independent Media Center on Tuesday night, the eve of a University of Illinois board of trustees meeting at which the Graduate Employees Organization, anti-"chief" activists, and supporters of domestic partner benefits for UI staff and students will all speak out. Rovics played two encores to an appreciative crowd and will be present at tomorrow's events. |

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) is pressuring the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to force acceptance of new version of Digital Audio Broadcasting, a kind of "Fax For Audio" on to the existing AM and FM broadcast bands. To accomplish this, the NAB plans to double the amount of space on the dial that a station uses, thus jamming the signals of weaker stations next to them on the dial. |
