"Salt of the Earth" is a film about a 1950 Chicano miner's strike where, due to an injunction, the male miners are banned from the picket line. Their wives and companions take to the picket line, while the men take up domestic duties in the home. The film will be shown, in honor of Chicano History Month, on Monday, March 5th in the Main Lounge of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory, Urbana at 7pm. A faculty member from the Chicano Studies department will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterwards. |
