If the United States and the democratic international community have the courage to practice what they preach, then they should not recognize this new government. Democrats around the world should pressure their governments to deny recognition to Venezuela's new military junta or any president they happen to choose. |

5 months after the Bush Administration froze the assest and raided offices throughout the United States of Al Barakaat still no links found.
Stated one senior American official: "This is not normally the way we would have done things [concerning the designation of Al Barakaat as an entity that supports terrorism]. We needed to make a splash. We needed to designate now and sort it out later."
This article raises serious due process concerns and begs the question, what will the United States do to reimburse those innocents harmed by anti-terrorist actions. |

I, too, heard this disturbing piece on NPR. Matt Miller termed the process by which he wanted this accomplished "constructive hypocrisy" i.e. he didn't want to know HOW the military/police got the info, just that they GOT it.
As Mr. Raskin points out, Mr. Miller will get a lot of innocent blood along with his "constructive hypocrisy". The report was one of the most disturbing things I've ever heard on NPR and shows the kind of depravity that has become routinely acceptable within the mentality of the "war on terror". ML |
