Why The Democratic Party Is Backing Bush's War Drive Vs. Iraq
Current rating: 0
11 Oct 2002
Perhaps the most significant vote in the Senate took place more than a week before the final passage of the war resolution. It was the vote to shut down the one-man filibuster launched by Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia against any consideration of the measure. ... Byrd said. "This resolution is breathtaking in its scope. It redefines the nature of defense. It reinterprets the Constitution to suit the will of the executive branch.". . . But not a single senator, Democratic or Republican, would support an effort to invoke the Constitution against the drive to war. Byrd's filibuster was shut down by a vote of 95 to 1.

Mediageek: Imminent Digital Radio Disaster? / Friday 5:30 PM On WEFT 90.1 FM
Current rating: 0
11 Oct 2002
On Thursday the FCC authorized the go-ahead for new digital radio stations using a system known as In-Band On-Channedl (IBOC). These stations could go on the air in a matter of months. To accomodate these new digital signals the FCC also doubled the amount of space each station will take up on the dial.

Christopher Maxwell has been tirelessly charting the rise of IBOC and the interference it will cause on the FM dial. On Friday's mediageek radio show Maxwell will talk about the problems with IBOC and how it might blot out some of your favorite radio stations.

Call Fitzgerald, Tell Him You Are Angry About His Vote
Current rating: 0
11 Oct 2002
Just called Senator Fitzgerald to tell him I was angry about his vote and would work against his re-election. People answering phone were not amused. They had a John Phillips Sousa March for their hold music. How appropriate. His number in Washington is 202-224-5661. Flood his office with calls, let him get the message that we are not for war. Thanks, celeste

Congressional Re-authorization For Iraq War After TWO YEARS Voted Down!
Current rating: 0
10 Oct 2002
So, if you thought this was going to be another "mini-war", think again! Why would our
spineless congress vote down an amendment calling for congressional re-authorization for
this war after TWO YEARS! be voted down, unless the plan is for this war to go on, and
on, and on. Oh yeah, they'll be bringing back the draft, that's for sure!
