Home Rule Municipalities May Adopt Alternative Voting Systems |

Attorney General Lisa Madigan yesterday released a statement that pursuant to the Illinois Constitution, Home Rule municipalities in Illinois may adopt, by referendum, alternative voting systems such as Instant Run Off Voting for their local elections.
This clears the way for a referendum in Urbana to adopt a voting system that is more fair than first past the post. |

An organization capable of overthrowing the system of imperialist rule cannot be built on a foundation of sand. Only principled, transparent and long-term collaboration between serious activists can:
(1) organize a decisive break from the
confinement of liberal-imperialist politics,
(2) mobilize the masses in their millions and
(3) chart the couse forward to a world without
imperialist war or capitalist exploitation |

Prometheus has been working with Radio Free Urbana for years to put a LPFM station on the air in Urbana. This project is now trying to get on the air as a U-C IMC working group. Watch for announcements on how you can help with that or go to www.wrfu.net
Please consider helping this high priority project that Prometheus and Houston IMC are working on. We had hoped to have the first legal IMC LPFM operating here at U-C IMC, but Houston or New Orleans need that distinction far more than we do.
