Certainly, there is some reprehensible material there. But it is far from the only material there.
The IMC network has been under attack from one spammer/hacker in particular. Here at our IMC, this person has been banned and effectively dealt with, but only after much struggle. This same person is responsible, in part, for some of the material you cite. Racists like him, whose only concern about the Palestinians is that they sometimes kill Jews, seek to take advantage of the crucible of struggle to piggyback there own hate on top of the justified struggle of the Palestinians.
For the most part, readers see right through this transparent and sham solidarity on the part of racists. It is so obvious that you wonder why they even bother. Yet, the IMC network is an open one and is subject to being exploited in this way, but only to a certain degree.
It is important to call this kind of crap out when it is seen by readers. Where this behavior is clearly associated with trying to monopolize the Newswire by flooding it or hacking, it should be dealt with harshly. Readers certainly should reject forcefully such nonsense by commenting on.
But your characterization of Jerusalem as being conquered by Aryans is an exaggeration. Besides, most racists are only wannabee Aryans, anyway, insecure about themselves, who embrace this sort of illogic in the hopes of "fitting in.". One need not be an Aryan to be a racist. |

I have linked this entire mishmash together. Except for my comments, all the posts made here were from the same IP address, so don't be deceived by the fact that different authorships are claimed by them (including one from "IMC" which is clearly NOT from an IMC in any official capacity.)
There seems to be some seriously confused politics going on in the head of whoever is posting this material. The initial complaint seemed to be about the fact that racists are taking over at Jerusalem IMC. But then this same person posts a number of links to obviously racist material, such as the infamous "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" (sic), which anyone can find on their own if they really want to see such crap. I wonder if they are really genuine in their complaint or are really part of an effort to further confuse the complicated issues going on right now at Jerusalem IMC?
To say the least, the reposting of such material in such an obviously confused fashion is not helpful for anyone seeking some clarity on this situation. Those seeking to really understand what is going on are advised to check out the appropriate global IMC e-mail lists at: http://process.indymedia.org/ rather than relying soley on the opinions of the person who is posting these confused and rambling inflamatory screeds. |

Please do not misrepresent the facts -- I did not post any racist material here or at jerusalem.indymedia.org. Nor did I post under another name to create a false confrontation with myself acting as both instigator and investigator.
The simple fact is that Indymedia logs IP#s and sets cookies and that's where I can call your bluff. I've left my mark throughout the indymedia network as "?". If anyone tried to post something under my ID or tries to imply I was using as second internet connection with a second ISP that can also be refuted.
This affiliate should have a fair amount of programmers and IT personnel as part of their audience, and they should be able to verify that to frame another with a phoney IP trail can be uncovered any number of ways.
I don't know who you are ML or what your connection is to jerusalem.indymedia.org and their logs, but I have technology and the truth on my side.

There is no connection between UCIMC and the Jerusalem IMC, other than that we are both members of the IMC network. As for editorial policies at other IMCs, you'll have to discuss that with them, as all IMCs are responsible for determining and implementing their own policies.
If you don't want to be connected to racist postings, then simply quit posting such crap here. I think that the readers can clearly see that all the links above, that YOU posted, are to material that is inherently racist. If you are really opposed to such material, then I don't see the need for reposting links, without further explanantion, to it here.
As for the other stories linked above, are you denying that you posted them? |

No matter who's agenda you think is served by posting such flagrantly hateful anti-Semitic remarks, you have to ask yourself...
....WHY ARE DOZENS AND DOZENS OF HATE STORIES AND COMMENTS STILL VISIBLE? After many days and several stories regarding the situation posted throughout the indymedia network, why hasn't anyone lifted a finger to at least HIDE THE OFFENSIVE MATERIAL?
Now ask yourself, who is served by leaving the hate out in the open? Who has control over the stories at P-IMC? Why have they been neglegent in their duty? How much longer will that stuff be visible?
Ask the hard questions.

The IMC-Palestine has apparently taken the stance that they will pull no posts of any sort, no matter how flagrant, in the name of absolute freedom of speech. This is a very strong stand, and I believe they are taking it out of principle.
The inevitable consequence of this stance, however, is that certain cockroaches have crawled out from under the refrigerator, they way they do whenever they think they can cause a stink. It doesn't take many people to poison the well, and there are those who will do so simply to see how big a noise they can stir up.
I think the IMC-Palestine's stance is ultimately self-defeating if they want to be taken seriously as a channel for information rather than sewage. However, their policy is theirs to set, and the site is theirs to control as they see fit.
The only responsibility they have to the IMC network as a whole, as I see it, is to display openness in their decision-making process.

On September 7, this announcement was posted at UCIMC, "AIC Position On IMCP Failure" (http://www.ucimc.org/newswire/display/7583/index.php) appeared. As you could well understand, I was more than a bit suspicous of this notice (which only appeared on the Urbana-Champaign IMC). So I emailed AIC asking them to confirm or deny the report. This was the reply I received:

The AIC would like to confirm that the statement by the AIC in respect to withdrawing support for the IMCP is genuine. I have no idea how it ended up where it did or who ML is or how it ended up being published before today (as was our intention the notice was sent to imc-process (at) lists.indymedia.org this morning). Still such details are largely irrelevant as no alteration has been made to the text. As final confirmation the text will be posted on the AIC website http://www.alternativenews.org later today, or at the latest tomorrow.
We hope this clarifies matters and, again, we would like to express our support for IMC.
