As a Vietnam Veteran and a DOD employee with 20 years of service I find this bill unfair and insulting. I also worked in the steel industry for over 15 years and am a huge supporter of what is left of Union labor. When I accepted this job, there was never any mention of activation to parts unknown which in my mind is illegal or should be. Taking away the Veterans preference is an insult to all who have served this country loyally.
Re: Homeland Security Plan Designed to Break Unions (Bush 'loose and easy' w/ Truth)
The idea that my husband loses the little protection offered by the union is frightening to me given the fact we all know how corporate America and politics operate. This is simply a step closer to the privitization of government. It is also inconceivable to me that you would activate civil employees just so the draft is not re-introduced. The draft was acceptable 30 years ago but now because of politics it is not and when we fall short and are spread too thin all over the world sending civilians is not the answer. This plan needs to be scrapped and sent back to the drawing board.
