The Bloomington/Normal Democracy for America Group is hosting a celebration for Social Security's 70th
birthday, featuring Dr. Sandra Harmon on Social Security's historical background. Free cake, ice cream. |
The Bloomington/Normal chapter of Democracy for America is is sponsoring a celebration of Social Security's 70th Birthday at the McLean County Museum of History, 200 N. Main, Bloomington, IL., on Saturday, August 13, 2005, from 1 to 4 p.m. The featured speaker will be Dr. Sandra Harmon, historian and curator of the museum's current exhibition "The Great Depression". She will discuss the historical context and background for Social Security's origins, at 1:55 p.m. Other speakers include Dr. David Gill, congressional candidate in the 15th district. Free birthday cake and ice cream will be served. |
