There have been a few changes as we add staffers to the schedule. If you are a UC IMC member who would like to make the IMC more available to the public by keeping it opn through volunteering to staff, please send an email to imc-space (at) ucimc.org

Monday
3-8pm

Tuesday
3-8pm

Wednesday
noon-5pm; 6-9pm

Thursday
noon-5pm

Friday
3-5pm

Saturday

Sunday

Staffing the IMC so that it is open to the public is one of the most important parts of UC IMC’s mission of providing resources so that people can be the media. We offer staffers free parking at our secure, air conditioned building. The staffing computer and wireless access provide free internet access for volunteer staffers amid a diverse and welcoming environment. Please consider volunteering to staff: it’s an easy and fun way to meet people and gives you the chance to make a difference for both visitors and the IMC.

Notes: Look for the bright red OPEN sign outside the Elm St. entrance when the building is being staffed or call ahead (344-8820) to confirm. IMC volunteers are frequently in the building at times other than the staffing times posted above.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, IMC working groups frequently meet and have the building open. Contact the specific working group according to the schedule available at: http://www.ucimc.org/mod/info/display/volunteer/
At times, staffers may be working elsewhere in the building or outside. Look for a note at the IMC Elm St. inside entrance door. Outside organizations that meet in the building may have it open and can at times assist you, but they are not obligated to provide staffing assistance.

Parking at the IMC
Current rating: 0
18 Jul 2005
Here is an update on parking at the IMC.

Parking around the IMC on weekdays from 6am to 6pm is rented out to support the IMC. Currently, all spaces numbered from 1 to 9, plus, 11 and 13, are rented. Please do not park in these slots, as this could result in your car being towed.

The IMC still has a few spaces -- numbers 10, 12, 14, and 15 on the south side of the building -- available for rent at $30/month. If you would like to rent one of these spaces, send a message to imc-space (at) ucimc.org

On weekdays, spaces 16 and 17 are reserved for staffers. These are the two spaces that are the furthest west in the parking area along the south side of the building. They are first come, first served and may require cooperation to use both at thesame time, since they are at the end of the drive and have limited access.

It is expected that the four remaining parking slots available for weekday rental will soon be spoken for. Please do not park in numbered spaces around the IMC building on weekdays from 6am to 6pm, unless you are renting the space or are using the two designated staff spaces.

After 6pm, all marked parking spaces that the IMC owns around the building -- on the ramp, the east side drive by the retaining wall, and along the south side of the building -- are available for free parking.

On Saturdays, the postal employees use spaces 1 through 5. Please do not park there on Saturday mornings, but other than that, all parking is available for free around the IMC building. All IMC building parking is available free all day Sunday.

Do NOT park on the loading ramp before 6pm on any day the post office operates. If your vehicle blocks the loading dock for the mail truck, you are likely to be towed.

The circle drives, one in front of the PO entrance on the west side and the other around the drive-up mailboxes on the east side, are city-owned. Please observe the posted restrictions for these areas, as the IMC has no control over parking in there.

There is plenty of parking available in the city parking deck located northwest of the IMC across the Elm and Broadway intersection. It is free after 6pm and on weekends.

The IMC has a designated bike parking area by the south entrance to the basement. There are two loops there that can accomodate a half-dozen bikes or so. The north entrance to Lincoln Square also has a small bike rack.

Of course, if you walk or use the MTD and arrive at the bus stop right across the street from the IMC, you won't need parking at all.
