Progressive Democrats! Current rating: 0

not Republicans
Dear Friend of Democrats.com,

We wanted to thank everyone who contributed to our recent Second
Anniversary membership drive.

As you know, the campaign season is heating up. All across the country,
progressive candidates are running to replace Bush's right-wing foot
soldiers in the Senate and House.

Democrats.com cannot contribute to candidates, because we are not a
Political Action Committee (PAC). But we wanted to introduce you to an
outstanding PAC which only supports progressive Democrats: it's called
Independent Action.

Independent Action was founded by the legendary Mo Udall to help
progressive Democratic challengers defeat Republican incumbents. No other PAC
has this unique and important mission.

Independent Action is a powerful coalition of ordinary Americans from
across the country who pool their financial resources to support
candidates dedicated to a set of progressive ideals.

If you were as wealthy as George Bush, Dick Cheney, or Ken Lay, you
would probably write a large check to each of the candidates below. But by
making one contribution to Independent Action, you will be helping all
of these outstanding candidates:

Here is a partial list of the progressive candidates Independent Action
has endorsed this cycle.

Senate Endorsements
Mark Pryor - Arkansas
Tom Strickland - Colorado
Jeanne Shaheen - New Hampshire

House Endorsements
Linda Sanchez CA-39
Mike Feeley CO-07
Joe Courtney CT-02
Martha Fuller Clark NH-01
Richard Romero NM-01
Dario Herrera NV-03
Ed O'Brien PA-15

Independent Action's sole mission is to get new progressives elected to
the House and Senate. In addition to their financial support, they
offer intensive training workshops to provide campaigns with the necessary
tools and information to wage successful campaigns. They ensure that
progressive challengers have the resources and the knowledge to stand up
to the attacks from the well-funded far-right groups.

Here is a thank-you note that Congressman Mike Honda wrote to
Independent Action during his first Congressional bid:

"The support of your esteemed organization strengthens my resolve and
determination in my battle to represent the people of California's 15th
Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
The encouragement I receive from friends like you will be my inspiration
as I face the challenges that lie in the months ahead."

Today Congressman Honda is a leading progressive voice on Capitol Hill.

Please make a generous contribution to Independent Action today. Your
assistance will help their strategic funding plan to put the House of
Representatives back in Democratic control and increase our majority in
the Senate. Most importantly - they work tirelessly to make sure that
the Democrats who win are true progressives.

With your contribution, we can end the Right Wing's grip on Congress.
We can elect a Congress that will stand up for the issues we care so
deeply about.
