Anyone remember the guy named Mitchell Crooks who shot the original video of police brutality against Donovan Jackson? I figure that since none of these issues would be brought to light without this courageous man, I find it very appropriate to approach this subject in a rather angry manner since no one else seems to be. |
Loud angry protests. "Fuck police brutality". "It's time to stand up against abuse". Very true, but aren't we forgetting something? Or rather, someONE?
People, there is somebody who's already in jail right now who's involved with this story.
Know who it is? It's not Officer Morse and it's not Donovan Jackson. It's the guy who SHOT THE VIDEOTAPE.
A whistleblower against police misconduct is now imprisoned and probably being physically and mentally abused and HARDLY ANYONE IS SPEAKING ABOUT IT on the IMC.
I understand that Donovan and the issue of police abuse is important, but we have to remember that if it hadn't been for Mitchell Crooks who shot the video in the first place, Donovan's abuse would certainly go unpunished and unnoticed.
I think it's our duty as activists for social justice to shine an enormous spotlight on the case of the man who shot the videotape and why HE is now behind bars.
Wake up people and start talking about this. PLEASE!
Our protest signs should read along the lines of "FIRE MORSE AND FREE CROOKS".
If we protest against the police abuse of Donovan Jackson WITHOUT addressing the situation of Mitchell Crooks, we're all hypocrits.

What a bunch of morons you are. Mitchell Crooks is a drunk driver. Drunk drivers kill entire families all at once. Where in the hell is the courage in videotaping a police brutality incident? How does that make this man a hero? Not only should Mitchell Crooks be kept in jail, Mr. Jackson should not be granted any clemancy for his crimes. Why have laws otherwise? Your line of thinking will lead to total lawlessness. If I play hero, than I can get away with murder. If I commit a brutal rape and then am brutalized by the police, should I be set free? Of course not. Don't be idiots. |

Will, I'm sure you're a sensible guy, but in this case you might have strayed from the issue at hand. I think that they're not advocating for rapists to be set free, but rather for a stop to the white cops beating innocent people. Also, Crooks didnt kill any whole families...but I'm sure you knew that. But you're right drunken driving is wrong.
Would you be of the same mind set if a certain cop - Afro American Mr James King Junior threw and slammed a blonde 16 year old Gareth Lloyd with all his might and then punched him like you saw? ..even if he was already punched limp and subconcious and hancuffed? .. in other words restrained.
picture it: BREAKING NEWS: BLACK COP BRUTALIZES WHITE CHILD
I dont agree with always crying wolf either, but in this case, the cop was excessively brutal, especially since Donovan is but a child, handcuffed, and already punched senseless - alas, for eating some chips.
Even if he did grab the cops testicles, i think the procedure is to arrest the offender, take him to the station, file a case, and have the courts prosecute him - not punch him unconscious, when already subdued, and slam him that hard on a car (dude, his face bounced off the hood!) and punch him with all your might. It could be that the police had too much adrenaline flowing as they say, or is not altogether a stable individual. Or perhaps just a terrorist like he demonstrated. Either way, he was wrong and is dangerous. I dont always agree with what they claim, but after seeing the video - it was abit much. |

Make a stand and put an end to police brutality.
They have no right to beat anyone with anything at anytime.
So, no matter what happened before the video started taping,
he in no way, deserved to have his limp body slammed into the police car and then punched in the face by an asshole on a power trip. |

Your hero, Mr. Crooks (a apt name, no doubt)
was arrested on two warrants. One charges
burglary, the toher hit and run.
Check the video camera -- its probably stolen. |

If Donovan was punched senseless, then how could he have had the presence of mind to grab the cop's nuts. Police rules prohibit officers from using force once a suspect is subdued. Being cuffed does not necessarily mean that a suspect is subdued, as witnessed in this case. Donovan was still able to assault the police, so they have the right to do what is necessary to stop him.
Also, stop using the race card on every incident that occours. Cops would do the same thing to any white, scum-bag, degenerate who was resisting arrest like Donovan. |
