TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 7PM

then plan to attend the:
Champaign City Council Meeting
Tuesday, April 16, 7pm
Champaign City Council chambers, 102 N. Neil, downtown Champaign

Currently, the City of Champaign does not provide recycling pick-up for its residents. Instead, city ordinance requires private garbage haulers to provide recycling services to homes of 4 units or less. This means most
apartments, Greek housing, and private housing do not receive recycling pick-up. To amend this ordinance to include all types of housing regardless of size, the award-winning UIUC student organization Earth Doctors plans to address the Champaign City Council on Tuesday, April 16 at 7pm.

Regardless of whether you live in Champaign or Urbana, this issue is very important locally. Please join Earth Doctors in voicing your opinions to the Champaign City Council to gain their support for multifamily/apartment recycling in Champaign.

Sustainable Campus Environments
Noon, April 9, Latzer Hall, University YMCA

John Braden, Director of the University of Illinois' Environmental Council, will give a presentation about the
newly formed Committee on a Sustainable Campus Environment.

The concept of sustainability is penetrating all layers of society, from governmental efforts to address climate change to business efforts to reduce waste and design environmentally-friendly products. Braden will describe the next generation of opportunities for UofI to improve the environment on campus and conserve resources. Lunch from the University YMCA Y-Eatery is available (cost), or bring your own.

Great opportunity to learn about woodland wildflowers!

Angela Kerber and Chris Hauser will be leading spring wildflower walks in local woodlands. Check out what flowers are blooming and learn aspects of the ecology and management of woodlands, including Busey Brownfield Trelease and Hart woodlands, and possibly some Saturday trips to Forest Glen and Allerton Park.

Meet Thursdays at 6pm at the Anita Purves Nature Center north or downtown Urbana on Broadway during the 6 weeks from April 4 to May 11. The course is sponsored by the University YMCA and costs $10.

I can't attend this meeting but I sent an email to the mayor and city council in support. If you want to do the same, the address I found was on the city of champaign's website.

Council (at) ci.champaign.il.us

If you can't go and show your support, email your support to back up those who do attend.

The other council members individual address are on the city site as well. See
