Help Ban the Forced Molting of Hens Current rating: 0
18 Feb 2002
they force chickens to lay more eggs by withholding food and water for long periods of time, FORCED MOLTING
Thanks to everyone for making your calls last week on HB 4052--the Ban on Forced Molting of egg-laying hens. The bill was successfully moved from the House Ag. Committee to the House Consumer Protection Committee and will now
receive a better hearing.

The state Senate has yet to assign the bill to a committee. Please call Senate President, James "Pate" Philip 217-782-3840 and urge him to assign SB 1961 to the Public Health and Welfare Committee.

Also, please call members of the House Consumer Protection Committee, and tell them that you support the passing HB 4052 to protect consumer health
and to stop the inhumane practice of forced molting. Industry opposition to the bill is strong, and legislators need to hear from us.
