A long, long time ago, when I still thought running sound for dance bands was a good way to spend my nights, I discovered that after working with the same band for a while, I didn't actually need a set list.
If a guitarist or keyboard player played just a couple of notes to check his tone before a song, I would know what they were about to play- "oh, that keyboard patch means they're going to do Come Sail Away..."
When our boy Ames started popping up on Indymedia, first in a rant about him and then in a rant by him, both of which appeared on several sites, the tone was familiar. I knew the song that was coming up.
"Sounds like someone's warming up for an audition as an Indymedia SpamLoon", said I to myself.
Sure enough. So far I've found this particular rant on the IMC sites for Arizona, Austin, Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Cleveland, Hawaii, Madison, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New Jersey, New York City, New York Capitol, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Urbana and DC. Not to mention the UK.
That's alotta Spam. I've got to admit I feel for the poor volunteers running the newswire and playing Whack-A-Mole with an endless supply of Netloons from the black helicopters brigade. |
