a website lets you send anti-war email to the troops
http://www.projecthomefires.com is a web site set up by reactionary pro-war people
to send emails of "support" to the troops murdering the people of Afghanistan. It has
an on the web interface which allows you to send emails to all the major ships, etc.
and says that these emails are forwarded to individual service people. We can use
this to send anti-war messages, news, documents, etc. to the troops. Additionally, let
us make sure that we use it to let the people being forced to fight their brothers and
sisters in Afghanistan that millions here in the U.S. and around the world oppose the
war and stand ready to support any resistance they offer. Build the GI resistance to
this unjust racist war against the people of Afghanistan and the upcoming U.S. war
against the people of the world.
END THE WAR! END THE BOMBING! U.S. OUT OF SOUTHEAST ASIA!
FREEDOM FOR PALESTINE! FREEDOM FOR US ALL!

Considering both the widely expanded powers of the police/intelligence complex and the use of such questionably constitutional tools of repression as the Sedition Act already since Sept. 11, I would urge anyone deciding to try doing what is recommended about to be cautious in what they choose to send to the troops.
Any use of a military system involves giving your consent to be monitored. If you don't believe me, read the fine print on any DoD website. Inviting the Man into your home at this tense time of crisis is something you will want to do very cautiously. I'm not saying don't send mail to the troops, but people who are anti-war should choose their words carefully if they do so and only after evaluating the personal implications it might involve. |

obviously, you should NOT use your own name , real location, or home email on this.
The website cited above is NOT a military one, but one which forwards email to military email addresses.
People should do this, preferably from school, libraries, Kinkos, and other out of the house locations not traceable back to them, using either made up names and emails, or "hotmail," etc. emails which are registered using fake names, etc., and which are not accessed from home.
Additionally, you can go on the web and access the website listed above,
http://www.projecthomefires.com
from some IP blocking website such as http://www.anonymizer.com
I absolutely agree that we should currently do everything in a security conscious way,
knowing that the U.S. government, which is rapidly becoming the Nazi Germany
of the 22nd century will stop at nothing to suppress dissent. All the more important
to use any available channels to get anti-war information and arguments to the people
in the military, who are our brothers and sisters being used by the system to murder
the people of Afghanistan, and shortly, the world.
During the Vietnam war, thousands of GIs came around to anti-war views.
That will happen again.
It is important not to treat the soldiers and sailors as the "enemy," but rather
as our brothers and sisters being exploited by the enemy, the government.
At the same time, we should vigorously express our dissent to the war and
what the military is doing, and not fall into the "support the troops," "be
patriotic,"etc. trap.
Build the GI resistance to this unjust war!
End the War! Stop the Bombing! End the Attacks on our Muslim, Palestinian and Arab brothers and sisters overseas and here at home! Expose the government's phony claim that there is any "democracy" for the people here in the U.S. and oppose their repressive agenda.
Incidently, it is not only in communicating with the military that one should be cautious.
We need to be ready to continue our entire movement secretly if need be, as the government continues to become more openly repressive. Form networks of trusted friends now to continue the resistance after the government drops its phony pretend mask of "democracy." |

I hate to burst your bubble about this, but any e-mail sent that ends up on a military e-mail server would, by definition, go through a military system, amking it subject to monitoring by them.
Your advice to use anonymizer is OK, but the militray probably has access to technology, such as Carnivore, that may allow them to even defeat anonmysizer in some cases.
I still am only advising to use caution, but it's still not something I'd do from any computer of mine. |
