i don't see a problem with the site. Maybe the Seattle site had a brief problem with their server, or something. |

Keeping the Indymedia sites up and running on a shoestring is hard work. Sometimes things go briefly wrong. And, unfortunately, Indymedia is sometimes a victim of its own success, barely able to handle all the traffic from the growing number of hits.
Before you start posting all over that the sites are going down, possibly getting people all riled up over nothing, give it a few minutes, or even hours, to see if the problem gets fixed. You can also monitor the global IMC-Tech mailing lists at http://lists.indymedia.org --you don't even have to subscribe, there's an option to read the archives on-line. There'll you see the conversations between the folks busting their asses to keep the system running. There you will find out what's really going on.
Finally, face reality, web sites crash and go down. It happens to the biggest sites out there. That's a flaw in the system, and it will be with us for a while longer. Recognize it and deal with it. To make it a less common occurance donate time or money to the global effort. |
Servers are Machines |

Yes, there are a variety of reasons sites may go down once in a while. Sometimes it's because of heavy traffic or routine maintenance. The servers that host websites are just machines, after all. It can be disconcerting to those who aren't familiar with the technicalities, but more often than not, whatever site will be up and running before too long. |
