The Independent Media Center produces IMC Radio News. Soon, this weekly radio program will be airing on UPTV (Urbana Public Access, Cable Channel Six). The visual element that will accompany the radio broadcast will include a showcase of work by local visual artists. |
Artists who would like to be considered can submit high resolution JPEGs to co-producer Sandra Ahten at spiritofsandra (at) hotmail.com. There is no pay for the artist, but we hope to be able to provide contact information with each viewing. Please include your name, city, medium, dimensions of work and title. Also include contact information (that you want to have broadcast). |
This work is in the public domain |

I think this is a great idea because I just don't like watching news anchors tell you something then turn to someone else that tells you what to think about it. If you don't like the radio news part turn the volume down and take in some local art. Cheers to the IMC for working against corporate media. |

High resolution JPEG's? Some of us artists don't know what that is.
Good luck with this though. You've successfully done more for local artists than the entire 3 year existence of the 40 North bureaucracy, whatever that is. They have a nice logo, I admit. Rumor has it when the Champaign Park District asked 40 North to organize the artists for the next Downtown Arts Festival coming again this summer, 40 North said......ready?......"no". |

So if I'm understanding the proposal here, there will be a broadcast on UPTV of the sound of the IMC radio broadcast. But instead of the lovely Sandra Ahten delivering this text with lipstick on and a glint in her eye on camera, you plan on running random artistic images created by local artists, during the sound of the news broadcast?
Cool.
Is it possible for artists to customize a series of images according to a specific story? Yummy.
I think we have a media breakthrough here.
Now if only I knew what a JPEG was.... |

JPEG is a file format. You will need to save your files into a format with .jpg extension for submission. If you have Photoshop, one of the choices when saving your files is .jpg. |
