GET EDUCATED! Emergency Contraception (EC) is a special dose of ordinary birth control pills that can prevent unintended pregnancies if taken up to five days after unprotected intercourse. EC is most effective the sooner it is taken, but because EC currently requires a prescription, many woman cannot get EC in time for it to be effective.
GET INVOLVED! Join us at the rally to support measures that would increase women's access to EC by making it available for sale over-the-counter, without a prescription. Help us distribute information about EC, get petitions signed, encourage pharmacies to stock EC, and spread the word about EC to women in our community!
GET A PRESCRIPTION! A physician will be on hand to write prescriptions for women who wish to purchase a dose of EC to keep available in the event of unprotected sex, contraceptive failure, or sexual assault. The physician's fee will be waived, and women can fill their EC prescriptions ($29.99) next door at Osco Drug Store following the rally.
If you are interested in getting involved with the campaign you can attend our next meeting on Thursday, October 7th at 8pm at the Illinois Disciples Foundation.
