PICKET
Sinclair Broadcasting/WICD (ch 15)
Protest
ď‚· Slanted news commentary The Point with Mark Hyman
ď‚· Preemption of prime-time programming to air Stolen Honor, a one-sided political film presented commercial-free as a news documentary
Saturday, October 23rd
Following the UNITY MARCH
Meet the organizers at 11:00 am
At the fountain in West Side Park, Champaign (between University and Church).
We will organize, review the rules, and reconvene at the picketing site in front of WICD.
Sinclair Broadcasting is majority owned by four brothers who are staunch Republican supporters. The corporation owns 62 stations nationwide, reaching one-fourth of the American TV audience. Every station will be expected to preempt its regular programming to air a one-hour film, Stolen Honor, criticizing John Kerry’s leadership of Vietnam Veterans Against the War. FCC official Michael Copps said the preemptive airing of the film as a documentary “is an abuse of the public trust . . . [it] is proof positive of media consolidation run amok when one owner can use the public airwaves to blanket the country with its political ideology—whether liberal or conservative.” Groups around the country, from Common Cause to individual churches, are joining together to protest this flagrant abuse of the public trust. Please come picket and protest with us.

And what kind of unity is this march going to demonstrate? I have written a lot on this web site about judicial mistreatment of Wayne Pickette, exceptional Black inventor, the member currently of this community, and only after more than one year of my efforts, Indy is, maybe ( just maybe), starting to pay a bit of attention to the heavy judicial mistreatment, which he and I have been suffering here. So, what but the hypocrisy of the organizers is this, so named unity march, going to demonstrate? This comment of mine is first of all directed to the attention of Kimberly Kranich, as I asked her this question in the addressed to her e-mail, when the idea of this march had first appeared, and never, ever, got ANY answer. |
