WRFU is looking for suggestions regarding external sources of programming that could be broadcast on the station. |
WRFU is an IMC-affliated and fiscally sponsored working group that is building a low-power community radio station. We will be on the air by June 2005, broadcasting throughout Urbana and Champaign.
While much of WRFU's programming will be produced by airshifter groups that choose their own formats, we are currently looking for information regarding external content that people would be interested to hear on the station. We are particularly interested in hearing of content that will help us to serve the needs of underserved elements of the Urbana-Champaign community, such as material in languages other than English. Given our restricted budget, we are particularly interested in content that is available without cost.
If you know of a program, audio segment, or one-off audio piece, please post a comment below with as much of the following details as possible:
- a short description of the content
- where it is available (internet, satellite, CD etc)
- frequency and length of the item
- whether there is a cost associated with the item |
This work is in the public domain. |

currently I independently gather, edit, produce and then broadcast two eight minute segments of news mornings m-f
at WLUW 88.7FM in chicago
I propose that I can send a "week in review edition" of any length up to an hour on CD
in return for cost of the cd and postage about $2.
stories focus; non mainstream coverage, alternative and progressive views: world and national, avoiding mainstream news items - except if emergency or relevant to progressive views on health, civil liberties, science, environment and peace
news sources- from more than 50 internet sites including IMC
the NEWSTANDARD, Greenpeace, ACLU and more
many views of US stories from an international perspective published on foriegn news sites.
Occasional upbeat cultural pieces spotlight new or unusual developments in the arts and new works of independent artists

I know of a radio producer who makes audio montage/collages that are extended news pieces set to music who could make them available for free. Call 351-5350 for details and a copy of his work. |
