I recently attended an event in Marin County, California, featuring Ms. Amy Goodman and her brother Mr. David Goodman. The Book Passage, an independent book store here in Marin County was overfilled with people inside and out who came to listen to the Goodmans's stories about the severe crisis we have in the US with the so called free press, and about how the free press really has gone to the dogs and so the press has to be reclaimend by the people.. It is no wonder that the Independent Media Centers around the US and the globe are our only hope for rescuing democracy .

Her stories and reports from Democracy Now! about East Timor, about the kidnapping of Haiti's Pres. Aristide, about the shameful role of the United States in foreign affairs, were filled with human compassion and commitment to peace, to justice, and to human dignity. Ms. Goodman is a remarkable human being beyond what words can describe! I feel so very privileged and so honored to just be there and listen to what she had to say. Please attend her book signing and support her cause and support WEFT and the Independent Media as well--you will be glad you did!
