The Urbana-Champaign IMC celebrated its third anniversary on January 19, 2004. Over 100 people have come to the celebration for an evening of conversation and cake.

The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center has, over its history, run an all-ages performance venue; produced a monthly newspaper, weekly radio show, and bi-weekly TV show; hosted an art gallery; maintained a community center with meetings rooms, production facilities, resource library; and founded and supported dozens of media projects.

Over the next year, the IMC will help run WRFU-LPFM -- the areas first low-power FM radio station and will be buying a new building to host the center.

Hey it's me Jack,

I am sorry I missed your celebration. I had to work late. I was wondering who won Iowa? How did the leftist issues fair? How did the no war candidates do? Dennis, Howard, Al, and Carol etc.? How did the I am going to repeal the tax cuts message go?

Ricky, did labor put it's might behind Dick? I know you like Dick, so I am guessing he probably won right?

I am sure that the great President Carter probably propelled Dean to a huge finish. After all he had the support of Albert Gore (How did he do in the last election?) and Tom Harkin.

The most important thing were your issues. Anti-War, anti NAFTA, Free Health Care, anti-Bush, anti America? How did those candidates do?

Just Curious as Ever,

Jack

It's rather ingenuous that Jack says he had to "work" tonight. He, along with bfd and his friends, all claimed they had this date marked on their calendars. There were other conservatives from the community present at the celebration and had a good time, but all the keyboard commandos that spend their time trolling the IMC with off-topic comments like the above one suddenly had cold feet.

Obviously, we'll find out if Jack Ryan was really working tonight when we see his performance in the Illinois Republican Senate primary in March. More than likely, he was just sitting home bored, lonely, and cowardly, when he could have been partying with the rest of us.

Thanks for a great celebration go to those who contributed food and drink, who helped spruce up and decorate the space, and, most of all, to Jacqueline for planning and organizing this great event.

If we work hard to finish the Capital Campaign, our next celebration may be in a new, larger, and more useful building. If you haven't already done so, consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Capital Campaign today. It is needed to keep Indymedia strong and growing.

I also was unable to attend. I had a previous commitment to partake in some alcohol consumption with some of my veteran buddies from Nam. We had fun for those of you who would care to know. TA

Dear "just the facts",

I am sorry that I was working late. By the looks of the pictures, it does not look like I missed much. TA and I would have felt out of place as we do not have any tatoos or anything like that.

TA, If I could I would buy you and all your Vietnam vets a few rounds. Thanks for you service.

I was interested to know how you folks prevailed on your issues. Of course, I read the papers today and I see not so good.

Take heart, since it is a Democrat, maybe he's lying.

Jack

I was, of course, speaking in jest. Just thought I'd take the opportunity to let you know what it might feel like to be the subject of a "vomit-in", as many of your bretheren have actually carried out.

The model railroad thread was hillarious. I can just picture you sitting in your basement, meticulously assembling the Tinyville post office, and ranting and raving about the Bush family Skull and Bones conspiracy.

You're this guy, aren't you? http://www.comedycentral.com/images/tvshows/cy/photos/cy_105d_a10.jpg

There are older affordable homes for sale on Neil and Prospect that would make the IMC visible to more than just those who are already aware, not to mention those on the way to shop or leaving town from events. I believe they are zoned appropiately as well.
