George W. Bush most admired man in America |
WASHINGTON (AP) -- George W. Bush and Hillary Rodham Clinton are finally on the same ticket -- the most admired man and woman in America, according to a poll released Monday.
The Republican president and the Democratic senator from New York and former first lady won't be found on the same sides of many political issues. But they're both seen in a favorable light by the American public.
When people were asked to name the man they admire the most, Bush was picked by 29 percent. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Pope John Paul II were named by 4 percent and former President Clinton was named by 3 percent, according to the CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll.
Sen. Clinton, was named by 16 percent, while talk show host Oprah Winfrey was picked by 7 percent, first lady Laura Bush by 6 percent and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice by 4 percent.
The poll asked an "open-ended question," meaning respondents were allowed to offer any names that came to mind. For both the most-admired man and most-admired woman, the remainder of votes were spread among a wide variety of individuals.
The incumbent president is almost always the most admired man in such polls, but it's not uncommon for the first lady not to be the most admired woman.
The poll of 1,004 adults was taken December 5-7 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

W and Hillary, now that's a really HOT couple. The right wing must be titillated by such a result.
I'm sure Hillary is glad to hear that the public wants to see her mano a mano with that little rich wimp. At least her husband had the good grace to leave the country during Vietnam, instead of pretending he was some sort of fair-weather patriot and then going AWOL. |

Juts because everybody's doing it, doesn't make it right.
Or in this case, make it _right-wing_, but still not right. |

Or I guess it shows the American people aren't as 'left' as some deluded people think. TA |

Considering all the hot-air bloviations from the right about how far left Hillary is, I would say that any assertion that this poll shows anything except a deeply divided nation is BS. |

Nobody ever claimed that the American people agree with everything on this website. IMC exists because people wallow in ignorance if they spend all their time listening to or reading Rush, Faux News, and the NY Times. Given alternative sources of information, they very well could make a U-turn and support a much more progressive agenda. That is what you fear, TA, and our very existence (not to mention the very poll you cited) gives lie to your assertion that the American people somehow are marching in lockstep with the pResidential deserter. |

Clearly the selection of GW as the most admired man in America, reflects societies admiration of honor courage and steadfastness in face of diversity.
As for Hillary, while it is true that I disagree with her politics and her lack of moral fiber, one has to admit that she is extremely tough. In fact, I'll bet she would be able to lick virtually any women who crossed her path.
