Republican Party is latest to export jobs overseas
September 2, 2003
NEW DELHI, India — The Republican Party has joined IBM, Microsoft and Delta Airlines in exporting white collar jobs to India, according to the Indian paper, The Business Standard.
"The U.S. Republican Party now has a band of young and enthusiastic fundraisers in Noida and Gurgaon," the paper reported from New Delhi. The 75 call center workers are trolling for cash for the party and for the re-election of George W. Bush, it added.
HCL Technologies, an Indian firm, bagged a GOP contract for its "business process outsourcing arm," HCL eServe, to dial for GOP campaign dollars over the phone.
The party disguises the fact its call center is in India through "a high degree of automation, to limit human intervention," the paper reported.
