Mother Jones Dinner
The annual Mother Jones dinner will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the University of Illinois at Springfield in the Public Affairs Center. The featured speaker will be Elliott Gorn, author of "Mother Jones The Most Dangerous Woman in America." The featured performer will be Margaret Oerner who portrays Mother Jones. The annual pilgrimage to the Mother Jones monument in the Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive is scheduled for the following day.

All workshops will be located at: CAN TV: 322 South Green Street Chicago Labor Education Program offices: 815 W. Van Buren, 2nd and 3rd Floors Sessions include:
TV production (CAN TV) Basic video techniques for picket lines and rallies: the right equipment, the right shots. Nuts and bolts of low-cost video production. Low and no-tech TV opportunities for labor unions at CAN TV.
Radio production (CLEP) Audio production from concept to editing. Radio and Internet distribution: How to make your way around the crazy quilt of alternative media opportunities. Interviewing for radio, taping and using microphones.
Lunch speaker: Fred Glass, Coomunications Director California Federatio of Teachers, will speak on "An Organizing Model for Labor Communication" The Friday event is free. Registration for the Saturday event is $50 Âlunch is included. Space is limited.

Texas writer and columnist Molly Ivins is this year's winner of the Debs Award for service to the working class. She will be the keynote speaker at the banquet.
