Retired cop knew how to get a confession! |

Did you see the story of the 84 year old woman who keeps fighting against the parole of the men who shot and killed her son, execution style, in 1977? The deceased was working at Avenue Auto Sales, and the killers had also killed the day before in Peoria, I think, when they came in and killed him in his Champaign car lot office.
They have been in prison since 1977 and she fights it every time the case comesup for parole.
I thought the most interesting part of the story was how Jerry Schwighart (now mayor) was the cop assigned to work that case in 1977 and he arrested *AND GOT A CONFESSION* from a local teen who turns out to have had no connection whatsoever to killing. Now that’s a great cop, one that can get a confession from a innocent teenager.
Its all in the News Gazette, Sunday May 22 edition, if I recall correctly.
What innocent explanation is there for how a cop gets a confession from someone who it turns out didn’t commit the crime? |
