Urbana (AP) -- A visit to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Tuesday saw a bit of bi-partisan good humor. Illinois Democratic Governor Ron Blagojevich, who is running for re-election to his second term in Novermber, was paying one of his rare downstate visits to academia.
"It was quite a relief to get that shirt. When I heard I finally was getting stuck for the day in Champaign County, I knew it was probably going to make another boring week in my administration drag out that much longer. I was really afraid the College Democrats were going to give me a shirt like that. I was relieved that it was only the College Republicans and the shirt was blue, not green. That could have been one of my most embarrassing moments yet and I thank the College Republicans for making me feel loved in Champaign County," the governor said as he boarded his helicopter to return to partying with his wealthy sycophants in Chicago. |
