"Month of Action" for Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal Current rating: 0
21 May 2001
Discusses "Month of Action", which will be taking place in June, for Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Press Release: For Immediate Distribution:

Necessary Dissent, is a grassroots organization based in Houston, Texas which believes that all forms of political, social, and cultural oppression is wrong, and works to continuously not only raise awareness, but to incite positive action. This organization is now in the midst of organizing a world-wide “Month of Action” in order to raise consciousness about Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal, as well as get 10,000+ signatures on a petition for each man demanding their immediate release from prison. These petitions will be sent to over 25 different recipients throughout the United States. As of this press release, Necessary Dissent has over 50 different people/organizations (that they know of) helping them achieve this goal.
There are to be many events taking place all over the world to raise consciousness and get petition signatures for these men. These events range from canvassing neighborhoods to benefit shows and protests for Peltier and Abu-Jamal, however, they still need your help. They want to make this event as memorable and momentous as possible. Without enough quality work being done, there will be no way to make any progress in the release for these two men.
Necessary Dissent asks each and every one of you to please take part in these events that will be happening. If you do not know anybody or any organizations that will be working on the “Month of Action”, contact Necessary Dissent to get involved. They will be able to point you in the right direction or tell you how to participate.
If you need more information on Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal please go to the Necessary Dissent website at: www.necessarydissent.org. There is an on-line petition for you to sign as well. If you would like to take part in this “Month of Action” and help insure that these men are not forgotten while they sit in prison, and possibly help release these men go to: www.necessarydissent.org or send an email to: info (at) necessarydissent.org. You can also call them at (713)944-4313 or write them at: Necessary Dissent, 10107 Hinds St., Houston, Texas 77034.
