Community Discussion on Comprehensive Sex Education
Saturday, May 7th
10:00 to Noon
Douglass Branch Library
504 East Grove Street, Champaign
This discussion is sponsored by The Campaign for Comprehensive Sex Education (CCSE). CCSE is a new community group formed of local educators, school administrators, health care providers, students, parents, and other concerned community members. Our goal is to advocate for a consistent, age-appropriate, medically accurate and comprehensive education program for every school. Comprehensive Sex Education promotes healthy and safe choices, informed decisions, respect for ones’ body, increased awareness of responsible behavior, and fosters communication within families resulting in lower instances of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
On May 7th, keynote speaker Jonathan Stacks of the Illinois Campaign for Responsible Sex Education will be joined by a panel of local medical professionals, teachers, pastors and informed students who will address the current state of health education in our schools and answer questions.
