Sweatshop Workers Visit Central Illinois
A nationwide campaign to end sweatshop abuse overseas comes to central Illinois on October 26! The National Labor Committee and United Students Against Sweatshops are traveling across the nation with women workers from Bangladesh to expose the conditions under which Americans' clothing is manufactured. Come learn about globalization, sweatshops, and how you can become involved in the anti-sweatshop movement on Friday October 26. Two events are planned for Friday the 26th. At 3 p.m. on the ISU quad, students and community members will speak out for workers and against sweatshops. All are invited to this mid-afternoon rally. In the evening, the workers will talk about what it's like to work in a sweatshop. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. at the union hall of Laborer's local 362, located at 2005 Cabintown Road in Bloomington.
