Are civil rights the enemy? Did the US constitution commit terrorist acts? These questions and more will be subtly affirmed in your distant future. (Naturally, avaliable as a t-shirt at www.saviorass.com.) Thang you and good night.

THIS POSTING DOES NOT REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE IMC |

Urbana IMC is an open publishing space. We, as an organization, DO NOT endorse the views of any of our postings.
Public threats against the life of any individual (and especially an elected public official) are, in my personal opinion, EXTREMELY UNWISE, not to mention UNETHICAL. Threats against the life of the president of the United States are ILLEGAL, and they ENDANGER the IMC movement when posted to our site.
I am at the IMC now, and I am afraid that we will be raided by the Feds for including this posting.
I hate censorship in all its forms. |

I edited this post to remove language which implied a threat of violence, presumably towards the president, and unlinked the graphic which contained similar language. This was done because threats of violence towards public officials has the dual problem of only feeding attitudes of violence while also brining unncecessary and unneeded scrutiny or action by the state on the U-C IMC. |
NOT Censorship |

No need to feel that editing this post is somehow censorship. There seems to be some confusion about the difference between the two.
Editing a post to cause it to conform to appropriate use policies is simply editing.
Censorship is an action against an idea because of disapproval of an idea. This may or may not be be congruent with editing, but it is seperate issue.
The poster has a right to his ideas. That is a seperate issue from access to the IMC website, which is dependent on posts conforming to IMC use policy. Editing or removal of inappropriate posts simply disallows that particular use of the Newswire. It in no way constains the author from placing those views in any other forum where such a posting is acceptable.
Their will be further discussion at the IMC Steering Group meeting on Sunday at noon at the IMC. If you woudl like to have input, please attend. We've been sorta winging things while we are in the process of formalizing the final version of the use policy, but we do need to adopt an effective and USABLE use policy ASAP. |
