Making good on a campaign pledge, newly elected Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz dismissed eavesdropping charges filed in September against an Urbana man. Hours after being sworn in on Wednesday, Rietz, through First Assistant State's Attorney Steve Ziegler, asked Judge Tom Difanis to dismiss the charges against Patrick Thompson, 35.
