Dear Kim,
Did you happen to notice that Kerry and Edwards, the champions of the left decided for political benefit not to vote at all on the issue?
This may surprise you, but I am what you would call a conservative and am totally opposed to "Gay Marriage". However, I do think a civil union is okay, but that is taking some time.
Conservatives, at least, vote and take a stand. I am surprised that the gay movement, which traditionally supports the democrats, let the boys off the hook on their no vote here. I am glad to see you calling them on carpet for this.
Unfortunately I agree with you on your prediction that this will ultimately be decided in the Supreme Court. This is a Federal Government issue and should be decided as such. We do not need activist judges and mayors deciding an issue which could radically change the culture.
BTW, if your side wins, what limits, if any would you place on the definition of marriage? One Partner, Two, etc. I think this opens the door (front and back) to many questions if gays are allowed to marry.
In the spirit of true sportmanship, May the best Man win.
