Newsweek is reporting in today's edition the U.S. Justice Department is reviewing a letter sent to Mr. Ridge by DeForest Soaries, Chairman of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. Mr. Soaries wants Mr. Ridge to ask Congress to pass legislation giving the government the power to call off the election this November in case of attack. |
'We expect that an attack is going to happen,' Republican Congressman Christopher Cox, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told CNN. 'We are preparing for a terrorist attack now.'
