I don't like the format here where if your comments are down rated, they go into the hidden files. It ruins the continuity of the posts and well, it tucks mostly conservative posts away. While one is free to go read the hidden files, you have to admit, it is a bit of a hassle so many won't bother. And if ML didn't post the link to it a few days ago (thanks) it would have been even harder to find. (I couldn't find it on the mainpage like he said.)
I've posted a few times on this site and several of my comments were down rated. While one of them was a bit snide (hey, that's my sense of humor -- honor diversity!) it wasn't rude. The others of mine that were down rated were well written, well thought out and polite -- no cursing, no "attitude" -- just not what most, or some, of your readers wanted to hear.
And my last post on May 1st, responding to Tracy's comment about America's foreign policy being to blame for 9-11, went into the hidden files rather quickly. Perhaps she didn't get to read it yet? And unless she regularly goes to the hidden files, she won't even know I responded to it. (Of course I will consider the possibility that maybe she did read it and down rated it herself!!)
This is your site of course, but I think a FREE interchange of ideas works better. Yeah, send rude, cursing or off-the-wall comments into the hidden files, but not just differing opinions or a bit of sarcasm. Or if you run out of room, keep the last few days' comments up and place the older comments in the hidden files.
Well, I'm just curious if most readers, whether conservative or liberal, really like the this "down rated/hidden files" format. Answer fast so others know what you're responding to. This comment might be in the hidden files soon! |
