Hi Tracy,
I'll be straight with you. I don't know much about the assassinations of Mossadegh, Jacobo Arbenz and Salvador Allende, but if those assassinations happened for the reasons you stated, that IS wrong. I'll give you that. But I'm sure there's another side to those stories too. I will also agree with you that there ARE greedy capitalists in this country, but not all capitalists are greedy, so don't lump them all together. Capitalism is NOT synonymous with greed! Countless capitalists provide jobs and opportunities for millions of Americans. Perhaps even your job (or one you'll get soon if you're a college student) is due to a capitalist?! Imagine that!
And to say it's America's fault a socialist country isn't truly socialist is just mind boggling. Just when I thought I heard it all, another gem comes from a socialist's mouth! And if America is so horrible, why have millions and millions of people come to this country instead of the other way around? I don't see millions of people leaving for a better way of life in other countries. Perhaps it's not as good as you think elsewhere.
Would you really want to taste life (if you can call it that) in a truly communist country? If so, try North Korea for example, where you're lucky if you get a decent meal each day, where your life is in danger if you criticize Kim Jong Il. How about China, where the gov't censors the internet so you can't read certain sites? And that's the least of one's restrictions there! But I guess you can say that's all America's fault too!
Sorry to disappoint you Tracy, but America is not to blame for everything wrong with the world. The rest of the world does pretty darn well on its own. So stop pointing the finger so much at a country that offers you so much. Be grateful for what you have here and for the American way of life. While America isn't perfect, it doesn't get much better than here. Millions and millions of immigrants to this country over the years attest to that. |
