The Urbana-Champaign IMC will be holding its semi-annual General Membership Meeting at 6:30 PM on Thursday, Oct. 2. The meeting is held at the IMC, 218 W. Main St. Downtown Urbana. |
The general membership meeting is an opportunity for IMC members, volunteers and supporters to get together and look at the big picture.
The IMC is currently engaged in a fundraising campaign to buy a permanent home for the IMC that can accomodate all of its projects, including shows and performances. The IMC was forced to quit holding performances at its current Main St. location after having its performance space shut down by Urbana City officials for previously unknown code violations.
If you're not currently a volunteer, this meeting is an opportunity to learn more about what's going on at the IMC, and how you might help out or get involved.
Most importantly, the general membership IS the IMC. Without the membership, there is no IMC. The IMC can only make big decisions, like buying a building, with the consensus of the general membership, and that can include you.
