Below one can find some pertinent poetry.
Gulak
As toddlers we were scared by mothers.
They threatened us with Sibiria for mischief,
They shouted angrily, but, sure, that they rather
Wanted to protect us from sorrows and grief.
We were sent there alone or in crowds.
There were millions of us, like dust in sunny rays.
To what great aim did lead us then this road?
In which abyss would I have my last say?
We didn't need compass to find north,
And mothers' threats we knew by heart, as songs.
Cold winds blew, ripping flesh from our bones,
And giving freshness to out skeletons!
Complaints and prayers couldn't have sirvived here,
They just got frozen, and covered by deep snow.
Words had turned into ice, so had our tears.
Curse words and bullets could've reached goals!
We were sent there alone or in crowds.
There were millions of us, like dust in sunny rays.
To what great aim did lead us then this road?
In which abyss would I have my last say?
If want to find more, - read books of Solschenizin.
So many times dredge washed our bones' mess.
Although blood was red, like tomatoes in pizza.
There were also more gold in us, fellas!
So, let the bell now toll in memory of mine.
The day is white, night - black, and snow is, sure, dry.
The permafrost would save corpses better in time
Than memories're preserved by those tardy cries!
We were sent there alone or in crowds.
There were millions of us, like dust in sunny rays.
To what great aim did lead us then this road?
In which abyss would I have my last say?
I'm not concern about memories,
It's too late now, whether cry or don't cry!
And our bodies (thousands just here)
Buldozer pulls by its so shameless knifes!
We were sent there alone or in crowds.
There were millions of us, like dust in sunny rays.
You, don't choose, once more, this lausy road!
I scream it to all, who're alive today! |
