The Daily Illini will give you a chance to win tickets to see the Illinois basketball team play against Penn State on Sat., Feb. 4. All you need to do is call 217-337-8316 after 5pm starting today, Jan. 31, and tell them what "Oskee-wow-wow" means to you.
To me, "Oskee-wow-wow" is just one more example of the persistence of institutional racism at the University of Illinois in the form of the pseudo-Native American mascot, "Chief Illiniwek". I suggest you call and tell the DI that their promotion sickens you as much as it does me.
The "Chief" needs to go, along with the fakery that goes with it. |
